Historic Nashville

I love historic photos of places and old postcards, so when I stumbled upon this Historic Nashville website, I thought I would share the wealth with all of you. There are some interesting images and write-ups here. I know virtually nothing about historic Nashville, so even reading about who Granny White was (there is a road named after her, after all) was interesting.

What’s your favorite picture or tidbit?

That is a great website isn't it? I've wasted many an hour perusing that site. Nashville is so full of history. The thing that makes me sad is that so many of those great old buildings, hotels, theaters, etc. are gone.

This was the same feeling that I had in looking at old photo books of Detroit when we lived there. So much awesome architecture and it's all gone. I suppose things have too move forward, but sometimes it's sad to just wipe the slate clean and start over when there are still some great historical things able to be preserved. Still, I suppose we're lucky to have the photos at all.
